Who we are

Owndom is developed and operated by:

Miroslav Vujičić PR Obrada podataka Data Front Beograd (Rakovica)

Contact for privacy matters: privacy@owndom.app

Our full publisher details, including the postal address and registration number, are in the legal notice.

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to the above. "The app" refers to Owndom.

The short version

Owndom keeps your household records on your device. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server of ours that stores your records. We cannot see what you put into the app.

Three third-party services operate inside the app and do collect limited data: a crash reporting service (only if you allow it), a subscription service, and an advertising service (for users on the free tier). Each is described below.

No account, no sign-up

Owndom does not require or offer user accounts. You do not provide us a name, an email address, or a phone number to use the app. We do not build a profile of you.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter into Owndom is stored in a database on your device. This includes:

  • warranties, insurance policies, claims and obligations you record
  • properties, contacts and communication notes
  • documents and photographs you attach
  • your settings, reminders and notification preferences

This data is never transmitted to us. It can, however, leave your device through backup, in two different ways described in the next section.

Backup

There are two kinds of backup and they work differently. Neither sends anything to us.

The system backup, made by your phone

On Android, the operating system copies app data to your own Google account. This is a function of the phone, not of Owndom. It follows the system's own rules and schedule, and it includes the Owndom database and the documents you have attached.

This is not something you switch on inside Owndom. If you do not want it, you switch it off in your phone's settings, where the setting applies to apps in general. Once it is off, no system backup of Owndom exists.

The encrypted backup, made by the app

Premium subscribers can additionally connect the app to a cloud account that belongs to you: Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, or, on iOS, iCloud.

When this backup runs:

  • your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves the device, using AES-256-GCM or, where the platform does not support it, ChaCha20-Poly1305
  • the encrypted file is uploaded directly from your device to your own cloud account
  • it is placed in an area reserved for the app (a hidden application folder on Google Drive, an app folder on Dropbox, an application folder on OneDrive)
  • we receive nothing, we store nothing, and we have no ability to read the uploaded file

Your relationship with the cloud provider is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, not by ours.

One thing you should understand before you rely on this. The key that decrypts your backup is stored on the same cloud account as the backup itself. This is what allows you to restore on a new device without remembering anything. The consequence is that anyone who gains access to that cloud account can access both the backup and its key. Protect that account accordingly, with a strong password and two-step verification.

When both exist at once

Switching on the encrypted backup does not switch off the system backup. If you have not turned the system backup off yourself, both are made: two copies, in two places, produced in two different ways. Subscribing adds the encrypted backup, it does not replace the system one.

Third-party services inside the app

Crash and error reporting (Sentry)

If, and only if, you consent, the app sends technical reports when it crashes or misbehaves. These reports contain the technical circumstances of the failure: the error, the sequence of code that produced it, the operating system version and the device model.

The reporting library does not use the Android advertising identifier or the iOS advertising identifier, and does not send your IP address in our configuration. It uses a random installation identifier that is not linked to you as a person.

You may withdraw this consent at any time in the app's settings. Provider: Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry).

Subscriptions (RevenueCat)

If you purchase or trial a Premium subscription, we use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is valid. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and subscription status from the app store. This is required for the paid features to work and cannot be switched off while a subscription is in use.

Payment itself is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never receive or store your card details. Provider: RevenueCat, Inc.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Users on the free tier see advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads library collects and shares:

  • the advertising identifier of your device and other device identifiers
  • an approximate location, estimated from your IP address
  • interactions with the app, such as launches and taps
  • diagnostic information about performance

This data is collected by Google and shared with Google for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before personalised advertising is shown, and you can change that choice at any time in the app's settings. This choice is separate from the crash reporting consent described above, and each can be set independently.

Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC.

Permissions the app asks for

PermissionWhy
CameraOnly when you choose to photograph a document or receipt
NotificationsTo deliver the reminders you set
Storage (older Android versions only)Required by the system to save a photograph you have just taken

Owndom does not request permission to read your photo library. When you attach an existing image, the app opens the system picker and receives only the specific image you select.

Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies:

  • Crash reporting: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw it at any time.
  • Advertising: your consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (Article 6(1)(a)), obtained through Google's consent mechanism.
  • Subscription verification: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)). Without it, a paid subscription cannot function.

How long data is kept

Data you enter stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the local database, but it does not reach copies held outside the device. A system backup stays in your Google account under Google's own rules, and an encrypted backup stays in your cloud account until you delete it there. Superseded encrypted backup files are removed automatically as newer ones are made.

Data held by the third-party services above is retained according to their own policies, linked at the end of this document.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, most rights are exercised directly:

  • Access and portability: your data is on your device and can be exported from within the app.
  • Erasure: delete items in the app, or uninstall it, or delete backups from your cloud account. Uninstalling removes the local database from the device. It does not remove a system backup from your Google account or an encrypted backup from your cloud account; those you delete separately.
  • Withdrawing consent: switch off crash reporting or change your advertising choice in the app's settings.

For data held by Sentry, RevenueCat or Google, contact those companies directly, or write to us at privacy@owndom.app and we will tell you what we can.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In Serbia, this is the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

Children

Owndom is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

International transfers

We do not transfer your data anywhere, because we do not receive it. The third-party services named above operate internationally and may process data outside your country under their own safeguards.

The owndom.app website

This policy is about the app. The website owndom.app is a separate thing, and this section covers it.

The site is static. It has no database, no accounts and no forms. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It carries no analytics and nothing that follows you to other sites. Loading a page sends no request to anyone else's server: the fonts, the styling and the images are all served from our own. You pick the language with a visible switch and the choice sits in the address, remembered nowhere.

One thing happens that we do not control. Like every web server, the one that serves owndom.app records visits in a log. This is done by the hosting provider that operates the server, as part of running it, and it cannot be switched off. Such logs ordinarily hold the IP address, the time, the page requested, the browser type and the page you came from.

Those logs exist so that the server can run and stay secure, which is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available. We may look at a log when something on the site breaks. We do not use logs to follow visitors or to build any picture of who they are.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Owndom after a change means you accept the updated policy.
